who can apply?

 

Eligibility criteria:

  • a natural person who is a resident or citizen of the Republic of South Africa; or
  • any juristic person that is registered in the Republic of South Africa that:
    • is a public benefit organisation, i.e. school, university, college, educational institution, board or body as contemplated in section 10(1)(cN)(i) of the Income Tax Act 58 of 1962 as amended:
      • carrying out any one or more public benefit activities as listed in Part I and Part II of the Ninth Schedule in accordance with section 30 of the Income Tax Act 58 of 1962, as amended; or
      • carrying out public benefit activities as defined in Part II of the Ninth Schedule to the Income Tax Act 58 of 1962, as amended; or
      • a section 18A(1)(a) public benefit organisation carrying out any one or more public benefit activities as defined in Part II of the Ninth Schedule to the Income Tax Act 58 of 1962, as amended; or
      • a welfare organisation as defined in section 1 of the Value-Added Tax (VAT) Act 89 of 1991, as amended;
        AND
  • runs initiatives that align with the foundations’ strategic focus areas, as listed on this website, which benefit a majority (greater than 85%) of black people, as defined in the Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (B-BBEE) Act 53 of 2003, as amended; the B-BBEE Codes of Good Practice and the B-BBEE Regulations.
